About Me-
My name is Cody Richards. I'm a MMI graduate and Red Level certified Honda technician who likes to consider himself as a lifetime learner. I've been wrenching as long as I can remember and have had the privilege of working under some amazing technicians, some with over 50 years in the Honda motorcycle world. I took these opportunities over the years to soak up as much knowledge as humanly possible so that I could continue to improve upon common techniques, mistakes, and bad habits. I stay active with new training from Honda as well as work at a factory Honda repair shop. I want to help people who are passionate about motorcycles feel confident in their own repairs and maintenance which will ultimately save you money, make you more aware of common issues and help you to diagnose your bike's problems fast and efficiently. I stay active on my website www.Themotorcyclemd.com with good tips and tricks. I hope you find this content useful!

Thank you for this extremely helpful video. I have one question - the base carb with the idle adjuster. How do you adjust the vacuum on that one? Maybe I missed it. Does the rear adjuster screw adjust both rear carbs?
Not worthy 😢I’m so not worthy
Thank you so much man, this video is what I needed to get my new vtx 1300 one step closer to being ready for the open road
I have a 1981 xl185 that has a spinning speedmoter, but the odometer works. I'm not sure what the problem is, do you have any suggestions?
👍🏻
Ran great and idled great and then I think it sucked something up because with the choke off it’s idling it like three grand 8000 original miles
Good shit man and love that tool. Thanks for sharing
This is a very helpful video, thank you very much.
Thanks for taking the time to show me this. I’m new to motors and I really appreciate what you are doing.
Thks four your excellent video I have a Vespa Lx 50 my carburetor drope a little petrol from the bolw if I remove the carburetor to change the tray is not out Thks for your video
Great information. I have a 1980 Suzuki GS550L. Works great but leaks Gass all over. Problem is I can't find a new replacement for this year make and model. Any suggestions where I can buy one? Thanks for the help
Very nice cb750. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thank you, this was the only method I could get to work on my Suzuki bandit
I’d love to know what are those extensions that you have between your pods and carburetors.
Awesome video thanxx man
Keep up the great content Cody
Thanks man!
Hello from Germany Good Video! Now i know what i have to do for a little service on the Carb and the Filters in Fuel lines ❤
I have played with things like this since I was a kid. But I had no idea of the technical points of it, only that I could tell when it was running right. So, decades later I am playing with a Nibbi and Predator engine. I think it is easier to fatten it up and add air than to try to add fuel that isn't there. It is a good day to play with it more. This is a great video.
Great video. It’s a shame to put it back in that nasty looking frame though
Mannn there was 40 on things I would have liked to clean up. First thing to go are those busted plastics. But main focus was the motor. That’s what we did.
Trying to get my ct90 dialed in
Awesome 👍, keep up the quality!!
Thanks! 👍
I have a question on my 2001 honda shadow vlx 600. I tried to start it and it popped and I lost all power like it blew a fuse. I checked them all i didnt find any that were blown. I had to recharge the battery and It charged just fine I turned the ignition back on and tried it again. It did the exact same thing popped and lost all power. Before this happened the first time I had started the bike 30 seconds earlier and then I stalled it. After that it has been having this issue.
That was fast Job well done🎉
You do it right 👍👍
Damn,I'm new to all this ,so you do not know where to find my question, nor the answer to my question ..
Can I use the carbs off of a 94 Honda shadow vt1100 on a 98 VT 1100 shadow??
0:57 Gesundheit 😜
I checked the secondary coil as showbn. The readings were either "1" or "18.67". I could get a copnsistent reading. Is the coil bad, or perhaps a wire/
Rumor is video wasn’t sped up it’s just the normal speed Cody rebuilds an engine these days 👏
Ha. I wish brotha
Over-revving!
Hey great video. Just curious…how long did that take you in total?
It took me about 15 hours, broken up over a few days. This video does not show going through the entire transmission and hand cleaning every part that goes back in with acetone and oil and a tooth brush.
Yep great 👍. I think I’m in the ball park when I do an engine like this. I was curious how long someone with alot more experience like you took. I always learn something from your videos thanks 🙏
Cool. Some military specs we're given go or no-go filler gauge numbers, some within .001
I love YZ250F, sounds amazing, really great vid, thanks Cody
Thanks man!
That was awesome
Thanks man!
Nice rebuild Cody 0:59 God bless you 😂😂😂
Hahaha why thank you
I think you got a better deal than you realize! That’s an upgraded bridge and pickup, probably also electronics.
I installed those for the customer years ago lol
What engine stand is that?
amzn.to/3RNQsJl love this stand
Dude you rock! Wish I could find a mechanic like you for my sportster
My 07 sportster 1200 had a check engine and battery light come on. The battery died so I replaced that. Within a few minutes the lights came back on. I checked the battery while at idle and while RPMs around 5k, voltage would be around 12.4 and then randomly drop to 2v, 5v etc and then back to 12.4. I swapped the voltage regulator and tested, voltage goes up to 14v at 5k RPM but then flashes 7v and other random numbers, then back to 13.5v, 14v. What’s the deal with that?
Thank you
Good
Cody, can you do a quick review of the electrical system? I want to make sure all my connections are accurate. The electrical diagram is challenging to read through and make sure it's exact.
My atv 89 kawasaki bayou put new carb on and wont run when take choke off ??
🤯I was so confused and running too lean after I installed my carb for a gy6. This is THE BEST video on explaining. I know exactly what's going on and how to fix it. Thank you!!
Thank you. Again.
Fantastic explanation! Thanks!
Good vid, but that beard! I almost vomited 🤮
Fish tank small rock shake with some vinegar, fill with more vinegar, and repeat as necessary Avoid coating unless the tank is pristine, you will trap rust under the coating, think what happens when you paint over rust. ...
Very clear cut and to the point, now I hope I can tune my 1991 Suzuki Gsxr750 with 4 carbs, thanks, I learned a lot, have yourself a great day, JxLoco in Los Angeles, Ca.
